Non-Greasy, Odorless Flea and Tick Collar

Find the right collar for your dog

To ensure you get the right size Seresto dog collar for your pup, consider their weight.

  • The small size is meant for dogs up to 18 pounds and fits neck sizes 5-11.75 inches.

  • The large size is best for dogs over 18 pounds and neck sizes 10.5-23 inches.

f your dog falls outside of these weight and neck size parameters, the large size is still a good option since there is no upper weight limit.

Water-resistant

Seresto is just as effective after a shampoo treatment, swimming, or exposure to rain or sunlight. Its effectiveness under normal conditions lasts for 8 months.

To keep the duration at 8 months, dogs can only be bathed once a month maximum. If dogs swim once a month or more often, theflea control duration is reduced to five months and the tick control duration is reduced to seven months.

How does it work?

The collar’s innovative polymer matrix stores active ingredients which are released in low concentrations over an 8 month period. This means that fleas and ticks are killed through contact, and they don’t have to bite your dog first.

How to Apply

Step 1

Thread the end of the collar through the buckle to secure it in place.

Step 2

Adjust the collar around the dog’s neck, making sure it is not too tight or too loose. There should be enough space to comfortably insert two fingers.

Step 3

Put excess collar through the loop(s). Cut off any collar that hangs more than an inch beyond the loop(s), unless the dog is still a puppy and its collar is still growing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get rid of fleas?

Seresto eliminates existing fleas on dogs within 24 hours of application. Following the initial 24 hours, any new fleas are killed within 2 hours.

How can I tell if the Seresto collar I bought is real?

It is essential that pet owners buy authentic Seresto products from authorized and trusted retailers.

Counterfeit collars and their packaging look very similar to the actual product. Be sure the collar does not have a oily feel or an aroma.

Does it expire?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging.

The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored according to the label’s directions.

What are the key ingredients?

The effective ingredients in Seresto collars are Imidacloprid and Flumethrin: Imidacloprid to help control fleas and Flumethrin to help control ticks. No other product has this combination of ingredients.

Water Resistance: It is not necessary to remove the collar before your pet gets wet – whether from shampooing, swimming, or exposure to rain or sunlight. To maintain the 8-month protection, however, pets should not be bathed more than once a month. For pets that swim frequently, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.Fleas may be brought to the house by: * You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc. * Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals. * Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your backyard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs. * Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your backyard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through. * Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats. * Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

What are the benefits of Seresto?

Inside the unique polymer matrix of Seresto are two active ingredients:

  • Imidacloprid has been used in products for years to control flea infestations.
  • Flumethrin effectively repels and kills ticks.Flumethrin works together with imidacloprid to provide dual action against fleas and ticks. No other treatment has this combination of ingredients. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface of the cat or dog.*Sustained release technology*Seresto works similarly to a monthly topical, but as the active ingredients wear off over time, a new supply is continuously replenished in low concentrations. The active ingredients spread from the site of direct contact over the skin surface.Bayer’s polymer matrix technology is designed to slowly and continuously release the active ingredients for eight months, a duration that makes it clearly different from other flea and tick collars.

Is Seresto water resistant?

Seresto is water resistant. The active ingredients of Seresto are contained within the Bayer Polymer Matrix, making it water-resistant. Therefore it is unnecessary to remove the collar before the pet is immersed in water. Seresto remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming, or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for eight months. In order to maintain an 8-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for fleas and seven months for ticks.

What if my cat or small dog gets stuck while wearing a Seresto collar?

Because some pet owners may be concerned that a cat or small dog could get stuck while wearing a collar, Seresto is designed with a safety release mechanism. In the unlikely event of the cat being trapped, the cat’s own strength is sufficient to widen the collar to allow for quick release.A hard pull causes the ratchet-release mechanism to allow a widening of the collar. The small dog and cat collars are equipped with a predetermined breaking point. A harder pull triggers the breaking of the collar at this point.

What is the expiration date for Seresto for dogs?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for this product. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

When can I bathe my dog after application of Seresto for dogs?

We recommend bathing BEFORE applying product. Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing. Please use a non-stripping, pet shampoo.

How often can I allow my dog to swim when using Seresto for dogs?

Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for swimming.

How often can I bathe my dog when using Seresto for dogs?

We recommend bathing BEFORE applying monthly product. The product can be applied once the pet is towel dried. We suggest using non-stripping shampoos that are specifically designed for use on pets. ‘Non-stripping’ shampoos are generally soap free formulations designed for general cleansing. Bayer makes a variety of shampoos that are non-stripping, general cleansing shampoos.* Seresto is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing.

How do I store and dispose of Seresto?

Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal. Storage: Store in the original unopened container in a cool, dry place that is inaccessible to children. Disposal: Dispose of container, pouch and expired collar in trash.

How can I verify the legitimacy of this collar?

Seresto.online is an authorized retailer of Seresto® products, which means we purchase the products we sell directly from Elanco, the maker of Seresto®. If you would like to verify the legitimacy of your collar, call Elanco’s veterinary team at 1-800-255-6826.

Important Information

The increase in fleas you are seeing is likely due to the fact that they are dying off after treatment. This is normal and to be expected. If you are still seeing fleas after application, it is possible that your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment. This can include other pets, surfaces, and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (e.g. carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

  • Been using for last two years with good results and no problems

By Darren Shroeger on 09.03.2022 at 12:58

I have a 4 year old Brittany that loves to run the woods and meadows, always looking for birds. My vet recommended the Seresto collar two years ago and I went with it, preferring it to monthly medication. The 8 month lifespan exceeds our entire tick season here in Michigan.

A friend messaged me that these collars were recently mentioned on the national news for killing dogs. I looked into it and it appears that yes some dogs have reacted to these collars (they obviously contain pesticides), with 100,000 “incidents” reported and 2500 deaths with 34 million collars sold. So that’s 0.2% having an incident such as skin irritation and 0.007% deaths.

My dog is the world to me and I would never want to put her in harm’s way. But I’ve used these collars for the last two years with extremely effective flea/tick management and no problems.

I absolutely love the Seresto collar! These are the only thing I’ve used for my pets for several years. Each collar generally lasts about 10 months so I only have to buy once a year. The collar is very durable and stays on. No odor or scent. Doesn’t seem to be affected by water. I leave it on when she swims, but take it off for baths. I have never found a flea on her while wearing the collar. I have found a couple of ticks crawling on her, but they did not bite. Great product!

This is beau bear we live in the river on side of our home and woods on the other.
Last year Beau got all kinds of ticks. Toward the end of summer we bought one of these collars and he didn’t get another tick!
This year we got a new one before the ticks got crazy and he hasn’t gotten one yet!

We have used the product one our two sweet dogs for 4 years and have had no problems at all with them. We also have not had any fleas or ticks. I highly recommend them and have to many people. They are so worth the price. I love that they are water resistant and hardly any scent at all. Will be buying them every year.

I NEVERRRRRR write reviews but I had to for this product! It has worked a literally miracle for my boxer! He’s an outside dog and one day I noticed he had hundreds of fleas on him. He also had some scars from scratching so much. I tried several flea baths that just didn’t work.

When I started researching flea collars I became VERY skeptical because there a lot of reviews about them irritating the dogs skin. But there were many more good reviews also.

So I bought the 8 month Seresto collar and put it on my dog. I watch him very closely for the first 2 weeks and realized that the collar won’t harm my boxer. Great! Now let’s talk about results…

Within 2 days, like the products claims, the hundreds of fleas were literally down to about 20-30ish. I gave him 2 flea baths within those first 4 days and he was FLEA FREE! No more scratching every couple of seconds. It’s now about 45 days later and ALL of his scratch scars have healed. He’s way more at ease and comfortable because he’s not being irritating by those damn fleas anymore.

I definitely recommend this to everyone.
    BUY IT! 🙂

I buy these flea collars every year around April or May for both my uncooperative dogs (that’s the best picture I could get from either one of them) and remove them in December since they’re only good for about 8 months or so. Neither of my dogs have ever had any fleas, etc. These seem to be the most effect & cost affordable option that works for us. Before I was giving them a monthly medication to help prevent fleas, but even that didn’t work as well as these collars do and it was more expensive.
